Premier of SATC 2 in New Zealand

I'm just back from the walking the red carpet at the New Zealand premier of Sex And The City 2. What a night! Between sipping Moet and Chandon, people watching and munching on cookies in my goodie bag I managed to watch what was one of my favorite chick flicks of the year.

The dress code tonight was New York fabulous and everyone there did not disappoint! There was lots of New York style black, but fabulous shoes in a rainbow of colours reigned supreme. I did see New Zealand's Next Top Model judge Colin Mathura-Jeffree looking very chic in a black traditional Arab headdress. While one well-known lady in communications shimmer like a disco ball in a silver sequined shrug, maybe inspired by Liza Minnelli's cameo...

Highlights of the film included the fashion throughout the movie blew me away. I have to say the Ralph Lauren gold sequined harem style pants that Samantha wears were gorgeous- if a little fancy dress, and I fell in love with the constant stream of vintage Halston. I also liked the mix of European and Middle Eastern inspired style that the girls showcase on their holiday.

Carrie and Big's NY apartment was stunning, and I posted several photos of it in a previous blog post. See here.

Karaoke night in Abu Dhabi- The only place it could have worked

Liza Minnelli's cover of Beyonce's All The Single Ladies.

I'm sure there is plenty more that I will remember in the morning. Until then its time to kick my three inch heels off and climb into bed...

If you've seen the film already what did you think?

Picks Of The Week...

One of the things I love about living in the central city is how close everything is. A few blocks away is a weekly framers market which I went to check out this morning. There were rows of fresh fruit and vegis and a huge range of blue and international cheeses. The later had me dreaming of a night in watching a movie, with a cheese board and glass of pinot gris on the table next to me.

On Monday I'm off to the New Zealand premier of Sex and The City 2 which I am very excited about. The dress code is New York fabulous and I have still to decide on an outfit. the one thing I do know is that the shoes need to be fabulous!

If you have any ideas of what I could wear to the premier please let me know!

Purple iris....

The lifestyle blog Habitally Chic which I stumbled across a few weeks ago. Interior designer Heather Clawson brings together her picks of beautiful homes, fashion, art and style musings in this must read blog.

Last night I went to Cuthbert and Co in Albany for a trim and nearly feel asleep in the chair when my stylist gave me a wash and scalp massage. I wish I could have my hair washed there every day!

I'm also feeling inspired by the messy rock chick hair seen in a recent Jimmy Choo advertisement. Perfect for those, "I can't be bothered to wash my hair mornings".

A few weeks ago I got the chance to interview America's Next Top Model winner Nicole Fox and have included the article below. I was surprised by how down to earth and friendly Nicole was- quite different from the shy girl they portray on the show...

It's my loft baby...

Having just moved into a studio loft apartment in the central city I'm a little obsessed with different interior designs for apartments. So much so that I've become something of a regular in the architecture and design aisle of the local library. Its been so nice to be right in the centre of things and in walking distance of work, friends and several, make that many, stylish boutiques.

I've compiled here a few images of loft apartments, including some Carrie Bradshaw inspiration, which I've been turning a little green with envy over...

Picks Of The Week

Its been nice to have a little escapism this week from packing up our home in the country to move into the central city. Amazing how many things you can collect in one house.... so many boxes of clothes!

This week I have been in love, all over again, with David Bailey's black and white photography. Bailey recently celebrated a 50 year partnership with Vogue. I love the vintage Vogue cover with the combination of red lipstick, clutch and orange coat, seen above.

A french braid that frames your face. Perfect if like me you are currently suffering through growing out your fringe. Kate Hudson styles it perfectly here, a little messy...

Lastly this week at work we had a goodbye Yum Cha lunch for one of the lady's who was leaving. I haven't had Yum Cha for years and loved the variety of foods offered, a lot more fresh vegi's then I thought there would be and selection of seafood.

Moving Day

So sorry for the lack of posts lately. I'm currently packing up my country cottage to move into the central city to our studio apartment. I should be back to posting in another week or so.

In the meantime I hope you all have a great weekend!

The promise of Kate

Walking along High Street in Auckland yesterday morning I was lured into Kate Sylvestor's quaint little store when I saw the marshmallow pink gauze dress through the window. The dress comes in both a full length and shorter version- a perfect fairytale dress for a special night or I can image it being worn to a spring garden party, with parasol and antique tea cup in hand.

I've always enjoyed the simplicity of Kate's garments, with their clean lines, focal details and beautiful fabrics. Several items from her winter collection stood out to me including the faux fur chubby cropped jackets, charcoal military inspired dresses, grey and sky blue dresses- with draped detailing in the sleeves and bodice, cute breton stripe tops and gauze blouses.

Enjoy the photos below...
